Road to

The "Road to" programs are intended to enable game developers and independent game businesses from Hamburg to access national and international events where they can present their projects, acquire new business contacts, and close deals. Representing Hamburg at national and international events as a major games industry location with a vibrant and diverse games industry ecosystem is also a goal of these programs.

To achieve this, Gamecity Hamburg partners with different industry events to set up delegation packages and offers them free of charge to Hamburg-based games businesses. As different events offer different opportunities, every "Road to" program includes different benefits for participants and may have different criteria for eligibility.

What does a "Road to" program include? ↓: As different events offer different opportunities, every "Road to" program includes different benefits for participants. In most cases, a "Road to" program includes full access to the event free of charge. Preparation workshops, opportunities to include game footage in delegation show reels or special business partner matching opportunities may also be included for certain events.
Who can apply? ↓: In general, the "Road to" programs are directed at companies and natural persons that are active in the Hamburg games industry, have their Headquarters/business premises or their residence in Hamburg. For certain events, students form games-related fields are eligible to participate in a delegation as well. Eliglibility criteria will be published in the call for applications.
When and how can I apply? ↓: Gamecity Hamburg publishes calls for applications for individual "Road to" programs on this page, via our Social Media channels and our newsletter in advance of the events and will specify eligibility criteria, application deadlines, ways to apply and benefits for the specific event.

Recap: Polaris 2023

The Polaris 2023 was a blast! While it was just the second edition of the games, anime and community convention, the event already pulled a great number of visitors from all over Germany and beyond, resulting in a sold-out event on Saturday and Sunday. In addition to that, the organizers even set a new world record!

Road to Polaris 2023 - Apply until August 28

The community convention Polaris takes place on October 13-15 with a three-day program including gaming, e-sports, anime and manga, cosplay, and content creation. Gamecity Hamburg provides free booth packages for Hamburg-based developers, teams, and studios. This way you can present your games, prototypes and demos to the audience and collect direct feedback from your target groups. Applications are open until August 28!

gamescom 2023 was a blast once again – we met some people we rarely see throughout the year otherwise, made new connections and, most importantly, enabled five studios from Hamburg to present their games at the shared Gamecity Hamburg Booth at the Indie Arena Booth.

Recap: Road to Polaris 2022

The Polaris Convention, Hamburg's new community convention centered around gaming, e-sports, and Asian pop-culture, attracted around 10,000 visitors to the Hamburg exhibition halls for its first edition from October 28 to 30. Gamecity Hamburg participated with a joint booth, where we featured five indie developers from Hamburg though our Road to Polaris program, presenting their game projects to a broad audience.
