Gamecity@School: Insights into the Games Industry for Hamburg school students
For a growing sector like the games industry, supporting the next generation of professionals is important. Step one: Sparking young people's interest in the games industry as a career option and giving them an overview of career paths and ways into the industry.
With this in mind, Gamecity Hamburg Project Lead Dennis Schoubye and experts from three different Hamburg-based games companies were guests at the Stadtteilschule am Hafen, a secondary school in the Hamburg-Neustadt district, on June 3.
In an online-event they provided the senior students with insight into various job profiles in the games industry and with an overview of the Hamburg games ecosystem. Kemal Amet (media educator and game designer at Tiny Roar), Lidija Schnakenberg (3D artist at Osmotic Studios) and Ines Schwettmann (PHP developer at InnoGames) shared their experiences and stories about their ways into the games industry and their professions with 25 interested students.
We plan to organize further Gamecity@School events at more schools in Hamburg soon.
A big thank you goes out to our three guest speakers, the Stadtteilschule am Hafen district school and all the attendees!
