An innovative Multiplayer Online Conference

The Hamburg Games Conference on March 16 and 17 relies on a newly developed technical platform to offer participants a real conference feeling in a playful way. Using avatars, the participants of the conference can move around in a multiplayer online world to navigate to the sessions and panels with international experts, the virtual expo, or the business area with video matchmaking.

The technical platform of the Hamburg Games Conference 2021 is developed in Hamburg - with 200 games companies one of the European strongholds for the development of computer and video games.

Hamburg's First Mayor Dr. Peter Tschentscher will open the conference on March 17 with a welcoming address, underscoring the growing importance of the games industry:

Dr. Peter Tschentscher (c) Ronald Sawatzki Senatskanzlei Hamburg

"Hamburg is one of the largest locations for the games industry in Europe, with a strong digital economy and a broad innovation network. During the Corona pandemic, demand has increased significantly; never before has there been so much digital gaming. The 'Hamburg Games Conference 2021' addresses how companies can survive the increasing competition and position their digital products on the market."

For more than a decade, the Hamburg Games Conference has been the meeting place for game developers, publishers, indie developers, and students, with a wide range of talks, panels, and networking in the Hanseatic City of Hamburg.

The 2021 conference with the topic “Discoverability” seeks to help developers and publishers find new ways to find and interact with their audiences in a world without physical events, but with more distribution models, online platforms, and stores than ever before. In a world where citizens can no longer travel across borders, Hamburg Games Conference 2021 uses the most modern digital framework for its B2B Virtual Multiplayer Conference.

In collaboration with Creative Ports and the German Federal Ministry of Transport and Digital Infrastructure, Start-up Day offers a full-day program specifically for young game studios with talks, panels, and networking on March 16, preceding the main conference day.

Speakers include renowned game industry executives from Devolver, CD Projekt Red, Valve, Adobe, Electronic Arts, InnoGames and The Mix. The digital B2B conference has partnered with MeetToMatch for matchmaking in the business area, so attendees can watch conference talks, sessions and hang out at the bar afterwards, all in the comfort of their own browser.
