Road to Polaris 2024 – These 5 games will accompany Gamecity Hamburg

From October 11 to 13, Polaris, Hamburg's community convention dedicated to gaming, anime, manga, and Asian pop culture, will open its doors for the third time – and it will be bigger than ever!

After the great success of the last two years, Polaris 2024 will use a larger area of the Hamburg trade fair ground to provide space for even more booths, cosplayers, content creators, stages and games. Don’t let this opportunity slip and get your ticket right here

This year, Gamecity Hamburg will once again host a joint booth, where five fantastic games from Hamburg will be presented to the audience as part of the Road to Polaris program. Interested visitors can not only play the games at the spacious booth, but they can also talk to the developers of the games and the Gamecity Hamburg team to learn more about video game development in the city and corresponding funding programs.

These are the five games at Polaris made in Hamburg:

Into the Emberlands – Tiny Roar

Step into the enchanting world of Into the Emberlands, a cozy exploration game with a rogue-lite twist that is all about rebuilding the home of the charming Knacks in a world threatened by a mysterious glooming Miasma. As the chosen Lightbearer, you are equipped with a lantern fueled by light-bringing ember, allowing you to venture out into the Miasma. Bring back the lost Knacks and collect resources to rebuild and expand your village! Play the Early Access now via Steam!

Light of Atlantis – Duck’n’Run Games

This 2D puzzle metroidvania, which won the German Computer Game Award (Deutscher Computerspielpreis), combines jump 'n' run with the element of water. The players navigate a small robot through the flooded ruins of Atlantis. The water influences the movement of the protagonist as well as the behavior of the enemies, changes the environment and forms the core dynamic of the game. Secrets await and tell of a story long lost in the sunken city. And surprisingly sympathetic robots will cross your path, doomed to work for eternity unless someone can help them for a change. You can download the demo via Steam.

Mambio – neurodactics

The learning game Mambio combines classic learning methods and new developments from research to provide children with mathematics lessons specifically designed for them. Every new start of Mambio initiates a new learning session with a defined start and ending. Mathematical tasks are embedded in a storyline and solved by the child. After successfully completing a task, the story progresses, and further tasks are presented. Mambio can be used independently by elementary school children with and without disabilities and is now available in your app store.

Misgiven – Symmetry Break Studio

Misgiven is a 2D sci-fi narrative adventure game about that lump in your throat, and how some things are harder to say than others. As an explorer, you are stranded in a city veiled in toxic fog, whose inhabitants wear masks to survive. Find people you can trust in this alien place, and experience the awkwardness, anxiety and rewards of communication. Dialogue options have different emotional weights: depending on your openness to the other person (which can change during conversation), some options can only be said with effort, and some not at all. You can download the demo via Steam.

Monster Mayhem – Lost the Game Studios

In the delightful chaos of Monster Mayhem charming monsters engage in fierce battles for survival across a set of game modes like races and team challenges. With (up to) twelve players kicking off the first round, strategic wit and a touch of luck is the key to not get eliminated in this lively multiplayer experience. In the final game mode only one monster can claim victory! Due to the limited space at Polaris Monster Mayhem will offer a 1v1-Mode, which gives you a pretty good taste of the final battles.
