Nacon buys Hamburg-based Developer and Publisher Daedalic Entertainment
On February 16, the French publisher and gaming accessory producer Nacon announced the acquisition of the Hamburg-based publisher Daedalic Entertainment for 53 million Euros.
Daedalic Entertainment is one of the cornerstones of Hamburg's games industry, founded in 2007 and originally known for its in-house adventure games such as Edna & Harvey: the Breakout or the Deponia series. During the past years Deadalic has also become a household name in the indie publishing realm with titles such as Unrailed!, Partisans 1941, Witch It and Shadow Tactics: Blades of the Shogun. Daedalic currently employs more than 80 employees in Hamburg
Nacon and Daedalic had already previously collaborated with Nacon being the co-publisher of Daedalic's upcoming and much-anticipated adventure The Lord of the Rings™: Gollum™, which is scheduled for a 2022 release.
The cost of this acquisition amounts to 53 million Euros, and is thus Nacon's biggest acquisition to date. Carsten Fichtelmann, Founder and CEO, and Stephan Harms, COO will continue to run the company.
We are looking forward to seeing what new opportunities this development will bring for Daedalic and the Hamburg games industry.
