Hey allihopa! THQ Nordic übernimmt Koch Media

Der Spiele-Vertrieb und -Publisher Koch Media wird von THQ Nordic übernommen. Was nicht zuletzt dazu führt, dass ein weiterer Hamburger Entwickler schwedische Eltern bekommt.

Es ist die Meldung der Woche: Die Skandinavier THQ Nordic übernehmen den süddeutsch-österreichischen Spiele-, Film- und Software-Distributor Koch Media - auf 121 Millionen Euro beläuft sich die Transaktion. Zum negativen ändern soll sich für alle Beteiligten erstmal nichts, die zentralen Standorte in Wien (THQ Nordic GmbH) sowie Planegg bei München (Koch Media bzw. deren Spiele-Tochter Deep Silver) sollen erhalten bleiben.

Und was hat das nun mit Hamburg zu tun? Seit Ende 2013 ist der hiesige Mobilspielentwickler Fishlabs (Galaxy on Fire) unter dem Namen Deep Silver Fishlabs Teil von Koch Media. Und damit nun Teil von THQ Nordic, welches wiederum ein schwedisches Unternehmen ist, das 2016 aus dem Publisher Nordic Games aus Karlstadt im Westen Schwedens hervorgegangen ist.

Mit seiner schwedischen Firmenmutter ist Deep Silver Fishlabs bei weitem kein Einzelkind in der Hansestadt. Die schwedischen Dreamhack-Betreiber und ESL-Mehrheitseigner Modern Times Group sind mit 35% an InnoGames (Forge of Empires) beteiligt. Und die Goodgame Studios (Goodgame Empire) sind Teil der Stockholmer Stillfront Group, zu der auch das Hamburger Studio Bytro Labs (Call of War) gehört. Mal sehen, ob und wann die Schweden merken, dass Hamburg noch sehr viel mehr hübsche Spieletöchter zu bieten hat…
