Games Lift Insights on June 3: Crowdfunding for Game Developers

On June 3, our Project Manager Maggie Schneider and Jan Theysen, Co-Founder and Creative Director of KING Art Games will provide you with insights into our Games Lift Incubator program and a basic workshop about crowdfunding for game devs!

In 2020, Gamecity Hamburg first launched the Games Lift Incubator: The program supports developer teams in creating and refining concepts for digital games. Up to five teams are supported per year. During a three months long intensive program, the teams receive financing of up to € 15,000, a workshop and mentoring program by experienced industry professionals as well as office desks in a co-working facility. The application phase for this year’s Games Lift Incubator will open shortly.

To give an impression of what game devs can expect from the incubator and to answer questions regarding the application process we offer multiple Games Lift Insights workshops in advance. The first session will feature an interesting talk from last's years incubator mentor Jan Theysen on crowdfunding for game projects!

Maggie will provide an overview of what the Games Lift Incubator offers. Afterwards Jan will share his expertise from shipping more than 50 games (and collecting numerous awards along the way) and running several successful crowdfunding campaigns. He will talk about the advantages, requirements and pitfalls a Kickstarter campaign entails as well as answer your questions – just like he did as a mentor in the Games Lift program last year.

The online workshop is primarily directed at game developers who want to apply for the Games Lift Incubator. Registrations by these developers will be prioritized for this workshop. In addition, as long as tickets are available, all participants interested in the workshop topic are welcome. After the presentations, there will be sufficient time to answer individual questions from the participants.
