Odem

By Odd Zeroes

Funded with 80,000 €

Prototype Funding 2026 / 1

Odem – the breath of life that awakens inanimate matter. In this action card game, it is the resource that brings the pieces of an occult gameboard to life in order to defeat sinister shadows in tactical real-time battles.

Card Game Meets Autobattler

In Odem, players build powerful decks to face challenges across individual runs. As a roguelike deckbuilder, the game alternates between fast-paced combat encounters and strategic card upgrades. But if players are defeated, they lose their progress and must start anew.

During battles, cards are played onto the playing field to summon units. These units make their way across the board to the enemy tower, while fending off the approaching opposing forces. Much like in an autobattler, all units act autonomously and combat takes place entirely independent of traditional player turns.

Between encounters, players enhance their decks on the "Ritual Board." They can buy new cards, collect rare artifacts or navigate events that require strategic choices. Once a ritual is complete, a boss battle awaits before the journey continues on a larger board in the next act.

Odem fuses autobattler, tower defense and card game mechanics. With various playable factions and numerous cards, the game offers high replay value, ensuring no two runs are the same. The game will release for both desktop and mobile platforms.

More than the sum of their parts

Odd Zeroes is a brand-new game studio from Hamburg. The four members met while studying at HAW Hamburg and each of them brings their own background to the project.

Shelly Alon and Nikolai Reinke have been working together as game developers since 2019, mainly focused on commissioned projects for educational games. With Odem, they are shifting their focus to developing their own titles.

Yvonne Alon, new to the gaming industry, brings Odem its distinctive visual style. She is a freelance illustrator and animator and has previously published work with Carlsen Verlag.

Steven Kaule successfully released the cozy platformer “Magical Delicacy“ as a solo developer, bringing several years of production experience to the team.

Gidon Wolff supports the development team with Odem's audio production. He has brought several of Shelly and Nikolai's projects to life with sound effects and compositions.

Odd Zeroes believes the world has enough zero-sum games already. Together they aim to be more than the sum of their parts.
