Senator's Roundtable 2026 at City Hall

Games at City Hall – the Gamecity Hamburg Senator's Roundtable. At the beginning of 2026, Senator for Culture and Media Dr. Carsten Brosda, representatives from game companies, and Gamecity Hamburg discussed the current state of the games industry in Hamburg.

At the start of the year, on February 5, 2026, Hamburg's games industry came together in good tradition at the Senator's Roundtable. This format brings politics and industry into direct exchange. At the invitation of Dr. Carsten Brosda, Senator for Culture and Media, and Gamecity Hamburg, managing directors and representatives of leading Hamburg-based games companies and organizations met to discuss the current conditions and challenges facing the industry and to gain an overview of Gamecity Hamburg's activities. The entire management of the Ministry of Culture and Media was also represented at the roundtable by Senator Dr. Carsten Brosda and State Secretary Jana Schiedek.

The discussions focused on topics that have been relevant to companies over the past year. The successful events, Portside Game Assembly, Polaris Convention, and Gamesforum Hamburg, were highlighted as positive examples of strengthening Hamburg's international visibility.

Connections to events organized by Hamburg Kreativ Gesellschaft, such as the German Creative Economy Summit and AI Media Leaders, bring games together with other sub-markets of the creative industry. Through new regular exchange formats, such as a CEO Meetup planned for 2026, Gamecity Hamburg is also further expanding networking opportunities for local companies throughout the year.

In the discussion on tax credits and the EU's Digital Fairness Act, the companies emphasized the importance of reliable, level playing fields for the location's competitiveness.

Many thanks to 4Players, AviaGames, Beardshaker Games, Bigpoint, Curvature Games, Daedalic Entertainment, Fishlabs, gamigo, Goodgame Studios, HAW Hamburg, Initiative Creative Gaming/PLAY Festival, InnoGames, Moi Rai Games, Playa Games, Rocket Beans TV, Super Crowd Entertainment, Sunday, Tiny Roar, Twin Harbour Interactive, for participating and actively contributing to the Senator's Roundtable 2026.
