Recap gamescom 2025
The gamescom 2025 is over, and we look back on our „Road to gamescom“ week with our four developer teams and their indie game projects at our Gamecity Hamburg Booth at the Indie Arena Booth.

With a total of over 357,000 visitors (including 34,000 trade visitors), the gamescom from August 20 - 24, 2025 is nearly back to its record-breaking visitor count, with sold-out tickets from Thursday to Saturday. Our developers showcased their games to a large audience who were flooding into the Indie Arena Booth as one of the most beloved spots and the biggest shared developer booth at gamescom. In addition to feedback from visitors, the developers were able to get in contact with important business contacts, publishers, journalists, and media.

The teams set up the booths and gaming stations on Tuesday at the Indie Arena Booth in Hall 10.2, the largest joint booth of gamescom with about 200 international indie games. On Wednesday, Federal Minister for Research, Technology, and Space, Dorothee Bär, took a tour around the Indie Arena Booth with trade press and other politicians, and took a glimpse at the vibrant indie developer scene in Germany and beyond.
Streams, Stages, Parties, and more Indie Games made in Hamburg
The Indie Arena Streaming Studio and Livestreams were roaming all around the IAB, interviewing a few of our developers at our booth. Our Project Manager, Helen Krüger, talked to journalist Dom Schott about her job at Gamecity Hamburg at the heise stage in Hall 10.1, and gave some insights into working in the games industry.
More indie games made in Hamburg were part of the Indie Arena Booth: Pipapo Games displayed their exploration game "Map Map - A Game About Maps", as part of their Ubisoft Newcomer Award by the German Developer Award (DEP) 2024. And there were even more games made in Hamburg in Hall 10.2: Mo Rai Games with "Aethermancer", Happy Hippo with "Cosmodrill" and Shapes & Dreams with "Beacon Patrol".
We are delighted that each year, there are more opportunities to network outside of the gamescom grounds, like the traditional gamescom industry party, where industry members celebrated and met up on the banks of the Rhine. But there were a couple more events, like women's breakfast or lunch meetups organized by Women in Games, FemDev Meetup, Game Changers, Xbox, and many more, to widen their network and to keep up with people from all over the world. If you want to meet like-minded people in Hamburg, stay tuned for our next FLINTA* Games Meetup. Check out our channels for the next date.
We hosted a small Portside Game Assembly meetup at our booth, inviting this year's first-time Portside Portside guests to gather and talk about their gamescom and overall experiences so far. Check out more: Portside Game Assembly 2026.
