Recap: Gamecity Hamburg Celebrates Two Years of FLINTA* Games Meetup with Mentoring Dinner

On September 23, 2025, we had the pleasure of celebrating two years of the FLINTA* Games Meetup with a very special edition: the first-ever FLINTA* Games Mentoring Dinner by Gamecity Hamburg.

On September 23, 2025, we had the pleasure of celebrating two years of the FLINTA* Games Meetup with a very special edition: the first-ever FLINTA Games Mentoring Dinner at Gamecity Hamburg.

What started in summer 2023 as a recurring meetup to create a safe, supportive, and empowering space for female, lesbian, intersex, non-binary, trans, and agender professionals in the games industry has now taken an important next step. For our anniversary, we expanded the format into a mentoring dinner that allowed for deeper, more personal exchanges between mentees and experienced mentors from across different areas of the industry.

The evening began with participants engaging in two rounds of structured 1:1 mentoring sessions. Each mentee was matched in advance with mentors whose expertise ranged from founding an indie studio, programming, and art direction to PR, marketing, product management, and localization. Followed up by a shared vegan sit-down dinner, designed to encourage informal networking and open conversations in a welcoming atmosphere.

Our gratitude goes out to PlaytestCloud for making this evening possible as our sponsor, and to our fantastic mentors who volunteered their time and insights:

  • Mai-Vy Thach, PR Manager Central Europe, Capcom

  • Sinikka Compart, Producer / Dev Relations, Mooneye Studios

  • Jamie Elms, Media and Games Marketing Producer, Bytro/Twin Harbour

  • Marcela Versiani Deitmers, Studio Art Director, Bigpoint GmbH

  • Anna Sieprawska, Product Manager, InnoGames

  • Annika Neumann, Co-Founder & Lead Programmer, Pipapo Games

  • Maria Lesk, Localization Director, Daedalic Entertainment

  • Jade Celestine Coffi, Senior Technical Artist, Tiny Roar

Supporting a Diverse Games Industry

The result was an evening filled with meaningful dialogue, valuable advice, and an atmosphere of trust and encouragement.

As Helen Krüger, Project Manager at Gamecity Hamburg for FLINTA* Games Meetup, summarized: “It was amazing to see the talent, creativity, and drive the mentees brought to the table, while the mentors were so generous in sharing their time and expertise. The closed setting and group felt very productive and comfortable at the same time. We've been organising the FLINTA* Games Meetup for two years now and keep seeing new and returning faces at every event, which shows that more and more FLINTA* people are making their way into the industry and to us. We're looking forward to continuously providing a safe space for them to build their network, grow together and support each other.

We are proud that the FLINTA* Games Mentoring Dinner succeeded in creating both a celebratory and impactful moment for the community. It underlined the importance of mentorship in shaping careers and fostering confidence, while also reaffirming the strength and growth of the FLINTA* network in the games industry.
