Recap: Polaris 2024

The third Polaris Convention 2024 was fabulous! Over 40,000 visitors filled the Hamburg Exhibition Halls on three days of the convention covering games, Anime, Manga, Asian pop culture and communities.

On Friday, October 11, Polaris 2024 opened its doors in new and larger halls at the Hamburg Exhibition Center. On the first convention day, the game stations quickly filled up with visitors ready to play. The Gamecity Hamburg Booth “Games Made in Hamburg” was located right next to the large "Cyberdome"-main stage, and we were delighted to welcome Nintendo, Capcom, and Ubisoft as neighbors. Set in “The Sandbox” area, we were in good company with other indie games and retro gamers, who offered a nice journey from the past to our up-and-coming indie games. Find more photos in our gallery.

Our Gamecity Booth was inside the "Sandbox" next to more Indie Games and the "Cyberdome"

In addition to our programs, the Gamecity Hamburg team provided information on current jobs in the games industry and gave tips on starting a career. Fingers crossed that we will see many of you in the Hamburg games industry, soon!

The Gamecity Hamburg Booth with our five indie games was crowded thanks to our excellent teams and their indie games, who were able to participate in our Road to Polaris program:

  • Tiny Roar - Into The Emberlands
  • Duck 'n' Run Games - Light of Atlantis
  • neurodactics - Mambio
  • Symmetry Break Studio - Misgiven
  • Lost the Game Studios - Monster Mayhem

You can find more information about the games here.

The next highlight took place in the evening: our Gamecity Treff networking event at the Grüner Jäger music club. Over 250 industry guests came together to exchange ideas and have some good conversations.

We are delighted that so many people from all over Germany came to Hamburg for the convention and were able to engage in more detailed discussions, make new contacts, or meet up with old friends at our Gamecity Treff in the evening. We had a great time with you all. You can find more photos of the Gamecity Treff in our gallery.

On Saturday and Sunday, Polaris was able to attract even more visitors and once again set a new visitor record with over 40,000 visitors. We are happy that so many people visited the convention and were equally enthusiastic about gaming, cosplay, artists, and communities.

Thanks to the many Gamecity Treff business contacts and the exchange with familiar and new faces from the industry.

A big thanks goes out to our teams who accompanied us on-site and once again made the Polaris Convention an unforgettable experience.

See you next year at Polaris 2025 from October 10 to 12, 2025!
