What makes a pitch deck convincing, and how do you successfully present it to a potential publisher, investor or funding institution?

After our successful first Pitch Level Up in 2022, we invited devs and students for the second edition on April 13 so they could get all the answers on what makes a good pitch and other questions surrounding the funding and publishing process. At the Hamburger Ding Cross Community Space, right on the famous Reeperbahn, we welcomed devs, game-makers and students who wanted to know more about how to optimize the pitch decks for their games.

During the day, five expert talks by Christopher Kellner (astragon entertainment), Søren Lass (Business Development Consultant), Simon Ledder (DLR) and Dennis Briddigkeit (Curvature Games) and Amanda Förtsch (Gamecity Hamburg) shed light on how to secure public funding, the right publishing strategy and how to pitch to a publisher.

The heart of the event was the open and honest feedback on the developer's pitch decks: The participants used the opportunity to present their pitch decks in 1:1 conversations with our ten industry experts and get hands-on feedback and tips from Valentina Birke (Super Crowd Entertainment / Indie Arena Booth), Mai-Vy Thach (Ubisoft), Christopher Kellner (astragon entertainment), Kristin von der Wense (Daedalic Entertainment), Bastian Springer (IFB Innovationsstarter), Jörg Luibl (Games Journalist), Søren Lass (Business Development Consultant), Dennis Schoubye (Gamecity Hamburg), Cecilia Luna (Bytro) and Margarete Schneider (Gamecity Hamburg). Sincere feedback is important for many teams and developers, as it is not always clear after a rejection or lack of feedback, what a team still needs to work on. After our Pitch Level Up event, many teams will be able to further work on their pitch decks and game ideas.

A big thank you to everyone involved and especially to our experts and speakers and to Bytro, who supported this event as our sponsor! If you'd like to get an impression check out the gallery:
