Pipapo Games releases Map Map - A Game about Maps

Pipapo Games released their cozy exploration game “Map Map - A Game about Maps”. The indie developer Team was part of several programs of Gamecity Hamburg and already received many prizes for their unique take on the popular cozy game genre.

The journey of “Map Map - A Game about Maps” gained momentum in 2023 when the four-person team at Pipapo Games joined the Games Lift Incubator. One year later, the project received 80.000 Euro in Prototype Funding. With this support from Gamecity Hamburg, the indie team created a unique cozy game in which maps play a central role.

“Map Map - A Game About Maps” features a lovingly designed island world with a legendary treasure hidden in a secret location. Players take on the role of young heroes who set out on a quest with their crew of adventurers, putting their sense of direction to the test along the way. On the titular maps, they need to discover locations and clues by applying real cartographic techniques that lead to the long-awaited treasure.

Make your own map and find landmarks.

Even before its release, Pipapo Games impressed audiences with their game and received numerous awards. Their trophy cabinet includes the Ubisoft Newcomer Award 2024 at the German Developer Award and the award for Best Prototype at the German Dev Days in 2023.

The “Road to”-program by Gamecity Hamburg also enabled the studio to showcase the game at various trade fairs and events. In 2024, these included Gamescom, Polaris, Nordic Game, and the Hamburg Games Conference. In addition, Pipapo Games presented “Map Map - A Game about Maps” at the Game Playtest Nights hosted by Gamecity Hamburg at Xperion in downtown Hamburg.

The founding team of Pipapo Games consists of Annika Neumann (Lead Programmer), Lukas Hort (Game Designer, Programmer), Laura Hantschel (Concept & Character Artist), and Clara Müller (Project Manager, Environment Artist). The team is supported by Ali Popa (Sound & Music) and Jennifer Wagner (Social Media).
