German Developer Award: Submissions open until September 11

The German Developer Award and the Ubisoft Newcomer Award open their submissions until September 11 at 4 PM. Developers from Germany, Austria und Switzerland are encouraged to participate.

On December 8, 2026, the best video games of the year from Germany, Austria, and Switzerland will be honored with the German Developer Award at the Gürzenich in Cologne. An application for this reknown reward is an excellent opportunity to showcase your game to industry professionals and the press, win potential prize money, and raise awareness for your studio. So take a look at the award regulations, fill out your submission and prepare for a trip to Cologne in December!

The Ubisoft Newcomer Award—for which the submission deadline is also September 4 and which will also be presented on December 8—is particularly exciting for students and startups.
 

About the German Developer Award

In 2026, the German Developer Award will take place on December 8 in Cologne. The award honors outstanding achievements in video game development in the DACH region. The award is presented by a jury of developers.

The German Developer Award has been presented since 2004 for the development of outstanding video and computer games from German-speaking countries, making it the most prestigious award for the best games from Germany, Austria, and Switzerland. Since 2022, the award has been organized by games.nrw e.V. The German Developer Award is supported by the State of North Rhine-Westphalia, the City of Cologne, the Film and Media Foundation NRW, and game – Association of the German Games Industry e.V.

Recap: gamescom 2026

Vom 26. bis 30. August präsentierten sechs Indie-Game-Studios aus Hamburg ihre Spiele auf der gamescom, der weltweit größten Spielemesse in Köln. Im Rahmen unseres Programms „Road to gamescom“ konnten diese Studios ihre Spiele vorstellen, mit Publishern, Investoren, der Presse und vielen, vielen Besucher*innen ins Gespräch kommen und die kreative Spieleindustrie „Made in Hamburg“ repräsentieren. Wir blicken auf eine sehr ereignisreiche gamescom-Zeit zurück. 

Road to Polaris 2026: Gamecity präsentiert 6 Games made in Hamburg

Auf der Community-Convention Polaris in Hamburg bringen wir vom 9.-11. Oktober mit unserem "Road to Polaris" Programm sechs fantastische Spiele mit in die Games-Halle "The Sandbox". Kommt vorbei, sprecht mit den Entwickler*innen und erfahrt alles über Gamecity Hamburg und Games made in Hamburg.
