Have you ever wondered how to actually get people to find and play your game? In this digital time it takes more than just a great game to stand out. It's part of the Marketing Manager's job to make sure the game finds the audience and vice versa. Three industry experts will talk about their careers, their everyday work life as well as what career starters who are interested in becoming marketing managers in the games industry should know. There will also be time for your own questions later on! Our guest experts for Marketing Management are:

  • Xin Yang, Marketing Project Management at Evil Empire
  • Ines Neumann, Marketing, Community & Social Media Manager at Tiny Roar
  • Lisa Kneidl, Senior Communications Manager at ICO Media

Here's what we learned:

  • While the times of doing succesfull indie marketing on zero budget might pretty much be over, a small budget can still get you started, as it's never too early to start building a community. Also, your time counts as a budget and investment of course.
  • Creator Servers on Discord, TikTok and Reddit Ads yielded good results while being relatively cheap budget wise, but they do demand your time.
  • Tool Tips: Power BI für Data Analysis, Power Point & Excel, mail merge services like YAMM, DaVinci Resolve & Capcut (pro) for editing videos.
  • You don't have to study something marketing-related, it is far more important that you understand the audience and a are a native to the online world. In addition, possessing strong writing skills is a must.

Bonus: Data Analysis is becoming more and more important in certain marketing disciplines and might be an advatage on the job market.
